In Pilot 2, carried out in Catalonia, Spain, five sensors are deployed across farm and slaughterhouse settings to enhance monitoring and data collection, with ongoing developments to address operational challenges and improve the efficiency of data management and analysis.
In a recent webinar titled “Automated Swine Welfare Monitoring at the Abattoir: Linking abattoir data to live animal measures,” aWISH discussed the feasibility of using carcass data to continuously monitor swine welfare.
ILVO was asked to present aWISH at a working group of several competent Food Safety and Animal Welfare authorities on “New Technologies for Modern Inspections”, following up on the NVWA symposium of February and within the framework of the Belgian presidency of the EU (Heads of Food Safety Agencies-HoA group).
