The aWISH Final Event will take place on 10 September 2026 as part of the 77th EAAP Annual Meeting, bringing together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers and other stakeholders to explore the latest advances in animal welfare assessment and monitoring.
After four years of research, innovation and collaboration, the event will mark the culmination of the aWISH – Animal Welfare Indicators at the Slaughterhouse project, providing an opportunity to showcase key project results, innovative technologies and practical solutions developed to support animal welfare in pig and poultry production.
Throughout the event, participants will discover how artificial intelligence, sensor technologies and data-driven approaches can contribute to more objective, continuous and scalable animal welfare assessment across the livestock value chain. The programme will highlight experiences and lessons learned from the project’s pilot activities, as well as future perspectives for digital welfare monitoring technologies.
As part of the EAAP scientific programme, aWISH will contribute to two dedicated sessions:
Session 79
Advancing Animal Welfare Assessment with PLF Technologies: Insights from the aWISH Project and Related Research (Part 1)
🕣 Starting at 08:30 CET
Session 94
Advancing Animal Welfare Assessment with PLF Technologies: Insights from the aWISH Project and Related Research (Part 2)
🕑 Starting at 14:15 CET
These sessions will present project achievements and related research, demonstrating how innovative monitoring technologies can support improved animal welfare and more sustainable livestock production systems.
In addition to in-person participation in Hamburg, the event will also be accessible through live online streaming, enabling stakeholders from across Europe and beyond to join the discussions. The programme will be conducted in English.
