Jarissa Maselyne, member of the aWISH coordination team and Researcher and Project Manager at ILVO, together with Jürgen Vangeyte, Scientific Director of the Technology & Food Science Unit at ILVO, recently took part in a new podcast series jointly developed by ILVO and VILT (Vlaams Infocentrum voor Land- en Tuinbouw).
The podcast series is inspired by the book “Our Food Will Be Fine: How technology and climate give us new food opportunities“, written by Joris Relaes, Administrator-General of ILVO, and Nele Jacobs from ILVO’s communication department. The book explores how technological innovation and climate challenges are reshaping the future of food systems.
Across five podcast episodes, the series addresses key topics for the future of food and agriculture, including new proteins and fermentation technologies, soil-restoring agriculture, advances in plant breeding, the role of robotics and data in the food chain, and access to land.
Jarissa Maselyne and Jürgen Vangeyte feature in episode five, titled “Precision Farming”, which was released on 6 February 2026. In this episode, host Griet Lemaire talks with the two ILVO researchers about what precision agriculture is, what it can offer to livestock farming, and where its added value lies for farmers.
The conversation guides listeners step by step through the world of precision farming and highlights how ILVO is leading the way in the smart use and sharing of data. The episode also refers to ongoing work within the aWISH project, illustrating how data-driven technologies and precision approaches can support improved animal welfare and more sustainable livestock systems.
