During Agridagen 2026, held on 20, 21 and 22 February in Ravels, ILVO showcased how Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) and artificial intelligence are shaping the future of livestock management.
Throughout the event, researchers from ILVO’s Precision Livestock Farming team demonstrated the latest innovations in AI-driven barn and herd monitoring. Visitors discovered how smart camera systems and sensor technologies can automatically detect animal behaviour, support early warning systems for health and welfare issues, and help farmers make more informed day-to-day management decisions.
Practical applications included AI-based monitoring of pig behaviour and tools designed to identify risks such as tail biting at an early stage, supporting timely intervention and improved animal welfare.
Insights from the aWISH project highlighted how AI models are being developed and validated to support welfare-friendly and efficient livestock production systems in practice.
We appreciated the great interest and the many inspiring conversations over the three days. Until next time!
