The aWISH project continues to make significant progress across its pilot initiatives this summer. Several key technologies are currently being tested and refined to monitor animal welfare in real time throughout the production chain.
- EBENE® app welfare evaluations and atmosphere transport monitoring run by DUC (leading European of certified poultry) during the summer.
- The first model for detecting broiler vocalizations in the lairage area before slaughter is now available. Developing this model was a challenge for ITAVI due to the particularly noisy environment, which makes it difficult to hear the animals clearly. ITAVI is now analysing the initial results, with a particular focus on classifying the different vocalizations identified by the algorithm and using them to describe the welfare status of birds in this room.
These updates demonstrate the project’s commitment to improving animal welfare using innovative technologies, while providing actionable insights to stakeholders across the value chain.
Stay tuned for more updates from our pilots as the project progresses!
